This was amazing. Thank you for this. I often think of the white gaze as also about social control; how Black people will police eachother in other to uphold a specific idea about being Black so as not to arouse white racism. I think this is one of the reasons why Blacks on the left dont talk about Black people in a negative light, preferring to constantly cast us as perpetual victims of white racism. It controls the narrative while providing nothing material to Black people.

I will check out this book you have quoted from here. I hope my library has it.
